The Hidden History Project ("the app") is a location-based historical guide for the Silicon Valley area. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app uses and how.
The app requests access to your device's location to identify nearby historical sites and send you notifications when you are close to one. Your location is processed entirely on your device and is never collected, stored on a server, or shared with any third party.
The app sends local notifications to alert you when you are near a historical site. These notifications are generated on your device and do not pass through any external server.
The app stores your visited sites and preferences locally on your device using your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is deleted if you uninstall the app.
The app uses OpenStreetMap and CARTO for map tiles. These services may log your IP address as part of standard tile requests. See their respective privacy policies for details.
The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
